Crackdown on Mining Violations: 4 Mines Sealed, Illegal Sand Storage Busted

The Mineral Department took action against the illegal storage of 150 cubic meters of sand at four mineral sand sites

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 3, 2024:  In a coordinated effort, the Mineral and Revenue Department’s team conducted simultaneous raids on multiple mines today, leading to the sealing of four low-grade limestone mines located in Masturi, Bilaspur district. The mines inspected included M/s GS Minerals (Prof. Sanjay Pawar, Village Kosamdih Masturi), Daulatram Bidhani (Village Masturi), M/s Bilasadai Minerals (Prof. Sanjay Chhaparia, Village Masturi), and M/s Kanhaiya Minerals (Prof. Prakash Chanani, Village Mohtara).

During the inspections, the team requested the mine owners to provide registers and essential documents related to environmental clearance and inward/outward movement. However, as the owners failed to submit the required documents, the four mines have been sealed pending further orders.

The Mineral Department took action against the illegal storage of 150 cubic meters of sand at four mineral sand sites in Lachhanpur and Pandarwa, Bilha development block. Simultaneously, the state-level Mineral Flying Squad teams conducted inspections across various areas in Bilaspur district, resulting in the seizure of six Haiva vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of minerals. Cases have been registered against the offenders, and the impounded vehicles are under the custody of different police stations in the district.
