NMDC Achieves Record-breaking Cumulative Volumes in January 2024

Compared to the same period last year, cumulative production has surged by 17%, while cumulative sales witnessed an impressive 23% growth

TFP Bureau, Hyderabad, February 3, 2024:  NMDC, a Navratna mining company, set new benchmarks in January 2024 by producing 4.54 million tonnes and selling 4.56 million tonnes of iron ore. This achievement represents an 8% growth in production and a remarkable 19% increase in sales compared to January 2023, marking NMDC’s best-ever January month sales since its inception.

As NMDC continues its historic performance this fiscal year, the cumulative production and sales figures reached 36.32 million tonnes and 36.49 million tonnes, respectively, up to January 2024. Compared to the same period last year, cumulative production has surged by 17%, while cumulative sales witnessed an impressive 23% growth. This milestone marks the highest-ever cumulative production and sales in the company’s history during a ten-month period.

Shri Amitava Mukherjee, CMD (Additional Charge), congratulated his team on the outstanding growth, stating, “As the largest iron ore producer in India, commanding one-sixth share of the domestic market, NMDC’s sustained growth reflects the flourishing iron and steel sector. With the Economic Budget for the next fiscal year emphasizing infrastructure development, we are making significant investments to bolster our production and evacuation infrastructure, while enhancing our technical and digital capabilities. NMDC has aligned its targets to meet the escalating demand for iron ore and is poised for milestone production in FY24.”
