TFP Bureau, Korba; February 7, 2024: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a leading aluminium producer in India and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, reaffirms its commitment to empowering the youth through comprehensive development initiatives aimed at skill enhancement, educational support, and community engagement.
At the core of BALCO’s efforts lies the Vedanta Skill School, a transformative platform that has impacted over 11,000 rural youth, school dropouts, and unemployed individuals. This residential training program offers instruction in six essential trades while emphasizing crucial life skills such as communication, safety, legal rights, and menstrual health, fostering holistic development among the youth.
Pratibha, a former student of the Vedanta Skill School, now employed in the textile sector, lauded the program, stating, “Enrolling in the Vedanta Skill School has been life-changing. I am grateful to BALCO for providing me with the skills and opportunities to achieve financial independence and support my family. The institute has truly transformed my life.”
Additionally, BALCO’s ‘Project Connect’ extends support to over 2500 grade 10th and 12th students through remedial classes, personalized tutoring, and career guidance sessions, with a focus on SEMA subjects (Science, English, Mathematics, and Accounts).
Through initiatives like ‘Science Mitras’ and seasonal camps, BALCO employees serve as mentors, imparting market-relevant skills and fostering an innovative mindset among students. Shivani Rathore, a beneficiary of Project Connect, credits the initiative for her academic success, stating, “Project Connect played a crucial role in boosting my performance in the 12th State Board Examinations.”
Furthermore, initiatives like ‘Project Nayi Kiran’ empower youth to advocate for menstrual health awareness, contributing to positive community change. Shivani, now a Menstrual Health Management leader, attributes her growth to this initiative, emphasizing its impact on her overall development.
