TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 8, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Shri Vijay Sharma, demonstrated proactive assistance not only for stranded individuals within Chhattisgarh but also for those abroad. In the case of Deepika Jogi, a resident of Khursipar, held “captive” in Muscat, Oman, Deputy Chief Minister Sharma swiftly engaged with the Indian Embassy in Oman, urging expedited resolution of the matter. As a result, Deepika was safely relocated to the embassy premises.
Maintaining constant communication with the Indian Ambassador in Oman, Shri Sharma diligently monitored the situation, providing assurance and support to Deepika throughout the ordeal. Deepika, now secure at the Muscat Embassy, received comforting words from Shri Sharma, assuring her of safe repatriation and extending his personal contact details for further assistance upon her return to Chhattisgarh.
Shri Sharma pledged a comprehensive investigation into the matter and promised stringent action against those responsible for Deepika’s plight. The Deputy Chief Minister’s proactive intervention followed a report from J Mukesh, a resident of Durg district, who alerted authorities regarding Deepika’s ordeal.
According to Mukesh’s report, Deepika was sent to Oman in May 2023 under false pretenses by Abdullah, a resident of Hyderabad, ostensibly for a domestic helper position arranged by Hafiza, a Muscat resident. However, upon arrival, Deepika was allegedly held against her will, stripped of her documents, including passport and visa-related papers, and faced demands for money in exchange for her return to India.
Upon learning of the distressing situation, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma promptly instructed law enforcement to take necessary actions to secure Deepika’s safe repatriation and ensure justice in her case.
