TFP Bureau, New Delhi; February 13, 2024: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveiled a landmark initiative today, announcing the launch of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a rooftop solar scheme aimed at providing free electricity to households.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated:
“To further sustainable development and enhance people’s wellbeing, we are introducing the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. With an investment exceeding Rs. 75,000 crores, this initiative aims to illuminate 1 crore households by offering up to 300 units of free electricity every month.”
“Through substantial subsidies, directly credited to individuals’ bank accounts, and heavily concessional bank loans, the Central Government ensures no financial burden on the people. A National Online Portal will integrate all stakeholders for added convenience.”
“To promote this scheme at the grassroots level, Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats will be incentivized to endorse rooftop solar systems within their jurisdictions. The initiative promises increased income, reduced power bills, and employment opportunities for citizens.”
“Let’s embrace solar power and sustainable progress. I urge all residential consumers, particularly youngsters, to bolster the PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by applying at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.”
The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana signifies a significant step towards renewable energy adoption and socioeconomic empowerment, underlining the government’s commitment to promoting clean energy and improving livelihoods across the nation.
