TFP Bureau, Raipur; February 15,2024: School Education Minister Brijmohan Aggarwal unveiled ambitious plans in the state assembly, announcing a transformation in the education landscape. Highlighting the need for reform, Aggarwal declared that 25,000 schools in the state would transition to English medium within five years, alongside the recruitment of 33,000 teachers within a year.
Minister Aggarwal didn’t mince words as he criticized the previous administration, accusing them of fostering corruption within the education system. He singled out the Atmanand Schools, alleging them to be centers of malpractice, where funds were misappropriated and the future of teachers jeopardized. Revealing startling figures, he disclosed that a staggering Rs 800 crore was squandered in the futile attempt to repair 251 schools under the Atmanand regime.
Under the proposed reforms, Aggarwal outlined a vision where the number of schools in Chhattisgarh would double, from 15,000 to 30,000, over the BJP’s fifteen-year tenure. He emphasized a balanced approach, with plans to establish an equal number of high schools and higher secondary schools. Additionally, the minister announced a comprehensive support package for students, including free textbooks up to class 12, provision of shoes, socks, and bags for primary school children, and distribution of bicycles to all students up to class 12.
The sweeping changes proposed by Minister Aggarwal signify a monumental shift in the education sector, aiming to provide quality education and equitable opportunities for students across Chhattisgarh.
