ACC Limited Shines at 7th Mine Environment and Mineral Conservation Week 2023-24

Adani Group’s Cement Arm Clinches 17 Awards, Secures Top Position

TFP Bureau, Bhilai; February 15, 2024: ACC Cement, a part of the Adani Group, achieved a remarkable feat by clinching a total of 17 prestigious awards at the 7th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Week celebrations 2023-24. The accolades were bestowed upon ACC Group during the closing ceremony held at Mahatma Gandhi Kala Mandir in Bhilai city of Durg district. The week-long event, themed “Clean Mines – Green Mines,” was organized by Bhilai Steel Plant under the auspices of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) from 8 to 13 January 2024, with approximately 60 mines participating.

Distinguished personalities from the mining sector, including Shri PN Sharma, Chief Mines Controller Incharge Nagpur, Shri YG Kale, Mines Controller Nagpur, and Shri Anirban Dasgupta, Director (Incharge) of Bhilai Steel Plant, graced the ceremony.

Team ACC receiving the Awards

The leadership team of ACC Limited, led by Mr. Arvind Zade, Head of Mining, Mr. Dheeraj Kumar Tiwari, Head of Finance, Mr. Tapan Karmakar, Head of Environment, Mr. Chilhati, Head of Mining, Mr. P.P. Pandey, along with other team members, received the prestigious awards. ACC Limited’s exceptional performance across various categories underscores its unwavering commitment to excellence and sustainability.

Jamul Mines of ACC Limited emerged victorious with five awards in Category A2, including First Prize in Afforestation and Systematic and Scientific Development, and Second Prize in Reclamation and Rehabilitation, Sustainable Development, and Overall Performance.

Patharia Mines (Lease 1 and 2) secured four awards, including First and Second Prizes in Publicity and Second Prizes in Environment Monitoring and Waste Dump Management. In Category-B, Nandini Khundani Mines clinched four first prizes in Sustainable Development and Second Prize in Systematic and Scientific Mining, while Chilahati Limestone Mines bagged two prizes, including First Prize in Publicity and Award and Second Prize in Environmental Monitoring.

Additionally, Singhania Minerals Private Limited, a subsidiary of ACC Limited, and Medisera Limestone Mine, recognized in Category C of Small Mine, received two awards each, highlighting ACC Limited’s comprehensive approach towards mine operations and environmental management.

The ceremony commenced with traditional Chhattisgarh folk dance performances and the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. Shri P.N. Sharma, the chief guest, emphasized the importance of environmental harmony and topsoil conservation in mines, applauding mine workers for their role in driving economic growth while safeguarding the environment.
