File Photo TFP Bureau, Raipur; February 17, 2024: In a significant move towards bolstering road infrastructure, Deputy Chief Minister and PWD Minister Shri Arun Sao presented a demand for a grant of Rs 8016.84 crore for the fiscal year 2024-25, which received approval in the Assembly on Friday . Shri Sao reiterated the commitment of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Dev Sai’s government to enhance road connectivity, particularly in underdeveloped and backward areas, to accommodate the rapid increase in vehicular traffic.
Shri Sao emphasized the need to widen and strengthen roads to manage the growing traffic pressure effectively. He highlighted the government’s pledge to upgrade every highway in the state by 2027 and double-lane as many state highways as possible. Additionally, measures will be taken to ensure road infrastructure in remote villages, facilitating their integration with the mainstream.
To maintain construction quality, the PWD Drishti App has been launched, enabling on-site inspection and photo uploads by officers. Furthermore, allocations have been made for road repairs and the construction of new railway overbridges, underpasses, and flyovers across the state.
Notable Infrastructure Developments:
– A flyover on Pandari-Mova road costing Rs 75 crore.
– Underpass from Telghani Naka Chowk to platform number 7, Raipur station, at Rs 10 crore.
– Railway overbridge near Mandirhasaud station (Rs 12 crore).
– Railway overbridge in Raigarh Chakradhar Nagar (Rs 80 crore).
– Separator at Phundahar Chowk on Atal Path Expressway (Rs 10 crore).
– Great separator at Mangala Chowk in Bilaspur (Rs 12.50 crore).
– Overpass on Ring Road No. 2 Raipur Jarvai Marg (Rs 20 crore).
– Overpass on Sarona Chowk Ring Road No. 1 (Rs 10 crore).
– Overpass and underpass from Bharat Mata Chowk to station platform 7 near Kukri Talab (Rs 5 crore each).
– Underpass from Gudhiyari part of Raipur Expressway to Platform 7 (Rs 5 crore).
– Overpass on Tatibandh Bhanpuri Ring Road No. 2 (Rs 12.50 crore).
Additionally, substantial budgets have been allocated for road bridge construction in Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste areas, demonstrating the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
National Quality Monitor Inspections in Janjgir-Champa and Bilaspur:
Shri Bachanlal Bhagat, Chief Engineer and State Quality Coordinator of Chhattisgarh Rural Road Development Agency, will conduct inspections in February 2024 to assess the quality of road construction works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in Janjgir-Champa and Bilaspur districts.
