‘Baiga Tribes’ Housing Dreams Fulfilled as Water Life Mission Ensures Pure Drinking Water

Pradhan Mantri JANMAN Yojana Paves the Way for Pucca Houses; Water Life Mission Brings Clean Water to Remote Villages

TFP Bureau, Raipur; February 18, 2024: In a significant stride towards inclusive development, Chhattisgarh witnesses the realization of Baiga families’ aspirations for permanent housing under the Pradhan Mantri JANMAN Yojana. Spearheaded by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the scheme aims to uplift special backward tribes like the Baiga, bridging the gap between marginalized communities and mainstream society. Under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, a total of 3,554 pucca houses have been sanctioned for Baiga families in Kabirdham district. The first instalment of Rs 11.98 crore has been disbursed for the construction of 2,996 houses, marking a significant step towards improving living conditions for these tribal communities.

Kabirdham district, encompassing over 179 villages in the Bodla development block and 77 villages in Pandariya, predominantly houses Baiga families. The scheme allocates 2,081 houses for the Bodla block and 1,474 houses for the Pandariya block. Each beneficiary family has received Rs 40,000 as the first instalment, kickstarting the construction process. Additionally, basic amenities such as electricity, water, roads, education, and healthcare will be provided, ensuring holistic development in these villages.

Shri Antram Baiga, belonging to the Baiga tribe, was recently honored for initiating the construction of a pucca house in Kabirdham district under the scheme. As the first beneficiary, Shri Baiga expressed his gratitude and highlighted the commencement of house construction, emphasizing the positive impact on his community.

Simultaneously, the Water Life Mission is revolutionizing rural life by ensuring access to clean drinking water in remote areas of Chhattisgarh. Villages in Narayanpur district, previously grappling with water scarcity and contamination, now have access to pure drinking water. Under the mission, 439 households are benefiting from tap connections, receiving 24-hour access to clean water.

The Water Life Mission’s implementation addresses long-standing challenges of water scarcity and contamination faced by villagers. By constructing water tanks and tap connections, the state government is ensuring a sustainable solution to the water crisis, significantly improving the quality of life for rural communities.

The successful execution of both the Pradhan Mantri JANMAN Yojana and the Water Life Mission underscores the government’s commitment to holistic development and improving the lives of marginalized communities across Chhattisgarh.
