HNLU Hosts Inaugural R.O.O.T.S Alumni Meet: A Day of Reconnection and Celebration

Hidayatullah National Law University Welcomes Alumni for a Memorable Gathering

TFP Bureau, Raipur, February 28, 2024 – Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, welcomed back its esteemed alumni for the first physical Alumni Meet titled “R.O.O.T.S.: Revisiting Our Old Times & Stories” on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. The event, held on the picturesque campus of HNLU in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, brought together 80 alumni spanning from the first batch to the latest cohorts. Among the attendees were distinguished professionals including Civil Judges, Advocates, Corporate Lawyers, Academicians, and other legal practitioners, all eager to reconnect and reminisce about their alma mater.

Honoring Tradition and Building Connections

The Alumni Meet offered a rich tapestry of activities designed to cater to alumni from diverse backgrounds and graduating years. The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. V.C. Vivekanandan, who expressed his sentiments, remarking,

“Call it Providence or Coincidence, it is the collective destiny of Alumni, faculty, and staff spanning two decades of legal excellence at HNLU.” He further announced plans for roving Alumni meets in major cities to accommodate those unable to attend this year, emphasizing the enduring spirit of unity and progress at HNLU.

A Day of Reflection and Fellowship

Prof. Dr. Avinash Samal, Dean of Student Welfare, lauded the university’s progress across various domains, including academic excellence, infrastructure development, and faculty and staff welfare. The event also featured Advocate Siddharth Gupta, CEO of CAN Foundation, who provided insights into the foundation’s activities and highlighted the upcoming joint conference of HNLU-CAN scheduled for March 2024, featuring eminent jurists.

Acknowledging Contributions and Looking Ahead

Dr. Vipan Kumar, In-charge Registrar, extended heartfelt gratitude to all participants, marking the conclusion of a successful and memorable gathering. The event’s success was attributed to the diligent efforts of the Alumni Affairs Committee, led by Dr. Anindya Tiwari, and other faculty members who themselves are alumni of HNLU.

Celebrating Unity and Talent

R.O.O.T.S. featured a diverse array of activities, including indoor and outdoor games, an Alumni vs. Present Students Cricket Match, HNLU quiz, and a campus tour. Cultural performances, including ‘Karwaan-Revisited,’ showcased the talents of HNLU alumni and students alike. The day concluded with an off-site dinner at Mayfair Lake Resort, Nawa Raipur, Atal Nagar, marking a fitting end to a day filled with camaraderie and reminiscence.

The resounding success of R.O.O.T.S. has set the stage for future annual events, promising continued opportunities for alumni to reconnect, celebrate, and forge new memories at their beloved alma mater.
