Government Issues Directives on Teacher Reassignments and School Committees

Ministry of School Education Takes Steps to Enhance Teaching Quality and Governance

TFP Bureau, Raipur; February 29, 2024: In a bid to optimize teaching resources and streamline administrative functions, the Ministry of School Education, under the guidance of School Education Minister Shri Brijmohan Aggarwal, has issued directives aimed at reassigning teacher cadre employees engaged in non-teaching roles back to their original posting schools.

Under the instructions issued by Minister Aggarwal, the School Education Department has directed the immediate release of teacher cadre employees currently engaged in non-academic duties at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan, Nava Raipur Atal Nagar, to their respective schools for teaching assignments. Certificates confirming the termination of their attachment must be forwarded to the Director of Public Education within seven days to ensure compliance.

The decision comes in response to ongoing complaints regarding the diversion of teaching staff from their primary responsibilities, adversely impacting the quality of education delivery. Minister Aggarwal emphasized the urgent need to address these concerns and restore focus on teaching within the school system.

In a separate initiative, the Ministry of School Education has also issued instructions regarding the formation of School Management and Development Committees in government high schools and higher secondary schools across the state. As per the directives, ministers in-charge of the respective districts will nominate chairpersons for these committees based on approved nominations, ensuring prompt formation proceedings.

This directive follows Minister Aggarwal’s earlier instructions to the School Education Secretary to expedite the establishment of new School Management and Development Committees. As part of the process, the state government has already designated principals temporarily as in-charge chairpersons in government high schools and higher secondary schools, pending the nomination of chairpersons by ministers in-charge of the districts.

The government’s proactive measures underscore its commitment to enhancing teaching standards and strengthening governance structures within the state’s education system. By prioritizing the effective utilization of teaching personnel and promoting participatory decision-making through School Management and Development Committees, the Ministry of School Education aims to foster an environment conducive to holistic learning and development in schools across the state.
