Deputy Chief Minister Urges Swift Action on Jal Jeevan Mission

Field inspections and maintenance efforts prioritized to ensure uninterrupted water supply

TFP Bureau,Raipur, March 2, 2024: Deputy Chief Minister and Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Arun Sao convened a high-level meeting today, urging senior department officials to expedite ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Held at his residence office in Civil Lines, Raipur, the meeting emphasized the importance of completing mission-critical tasks promptly.

Shri Sao directed Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers to conduct thorough field inspections at the sub-divisional level and maintain regular monitoring of progress on ongoing projects. With summer approaching, special emphasis was placed on ensuring the proper functioning of the drinking water system across all districts. Officials were tasked with expediting repair and maintenance works for hand pumps and tap water schemes to prevent any disruptions in water supply.

The Deputy Chief Minister underscored the need for uninterrupted water supply, particularly in rural areas, during the upcoming summer months. To this end, officials were instructed to procure all necessary materials in advance for the repair and maintenance of infrastructure.

Dr. M.L. Agarwal, Chief Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department, reported that essential materials for tap water schemes and hand pump maintenance have been procured and distributed to all districts ahead of the summer season.

Key officials from various zones, including Raipur, Bilaspur, Ambikapur, Durg, Jagdalpur, and Kondagaon, were present at the meeting, demonstrating a collective commitment to ensuring the success of the Jal Jeevan Mission and fulfilling the government’s promise of providing safe and reliable water access to all communities.
