Balco Hospital Joins National Pulse Polio Vaccination Drive, Administers Doses to Over 900 Children

In a collaborative effort with the District Health Department, Bharat Aluminum Company Limited’s (BALCO) hospital in Balkonagar, led by Dr. Vivek Sinha, Chief Medical Officer, successfully administered pulse polio doses to the children.

TFP Bureau, Korba; March 5, 2024 – As part of the ongoing National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign, Balco Hospital, under the stewardship of Dr. Vivek Sinha, Chief Medical Officer, took proactive steps to inoculate children against polio. Spearheaded by Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director of BALCO, the campaign commenced with pulse polio supplements being administered to young children within the hospital premises.

In a concerted effort, medical professionals and support staff from Balco Hospital traversed the region, ensuring that doses reached children in need. Temporary camps were set up at 10 strategic locations in Balkonagar, while a mobile van facilitated vaccinations at various sites. Notably, a camp was stationed at the Balco bus stand to cater to traveling children.

Furthermore, door-to-door vaccination drives, scheduled for March 4 and 5, will be conducted by Balco Hospital’s dedicated staff, underscoring their commitment to community health.

BALCO’s state-of-the-art 100-bed super specialty hospital, equipped with 10 ICU and 6 Pediatrics ICU beds, has been instrumental in addressing the healthcare needs of employees, their families, contract workers, and local residents. Noteworthy contributions extend beyond vaccination campaigns, with doctors and medical staff actively promoting health awareness on issues such as HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.

With an annual patient influx exceeding 250,000 from districts including Korba, Raigarh, Bilaspur, and Janjgir Champa in Chhattisgarh, BALCO Hospital stands as a beacon of healthcare excellence. Complementing government initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, the hospital diligently adheres to all prescribed vaccination programs, ensuring the well-being of children in the region.
