TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 5, 2024: In observance of International Women’s Day 2024, the Mahtari Vandan Sammelan will be held on March 7 at 11 am across all district headquarters, block headquarters, and urban areas in the state of Chhattisgarh. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to join the event online, delivering an address via video conferencing and engaging with beneficiaries of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will grace the main event organized in Raipur, where he will initiate the transfer of funds directly into the accounts of eligible married women beneficiaries, marking a significant milestone in the implementation of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Additionally, the event will kickstart Chhattisgarh’s campaign to eradicate child marriages.

Implemented in line with Modi’s Guarantee pledge to the state, the Mahtari Vandan Yojana commenced on March 1, 2024. Under this scheme, married women aged 21 and above will receive monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1000, totaling Rs. 12,000 annually, with the first installment disbursed on March 7, benefiting over 70 lakh women statewide.

The Women and Child Development Department, serving as the nodal department for the initiative, has issued comprehensive guidelines to ensure the successful organization of the Mahtari Vandan Sammelan. These instructions include facilitating live telecasts of the program across all administrative levels and coordinating the participation of public representatives and stakeholders.

In addition to cultural performances showcasing departmental activities, stalls featuring products from women’s self-help groups will be set up during the conference, providing information on various government schemes. Pledges to combat child marriages will also be undertaken at the district-level programs, underscoring the collective commitment to fostering a more equitable and empowered society.
