Chhattisgarh Police Partners with Hidayatullah National Law University for New Criminal Laws Training

Chief Minister Emphasizes Human-Centric Justice System

TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 6, 2024: In a significant development, an MoU was signed on Tuesday between Chhattisgarh Police and Hidayatullah National Law University, Nava Raipur, for the training of police officers and staff on new criminal laws. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai presided over the ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Nava Raipur, underscoring the state’s commitment to a justice system prioritizing human sensitivities.

Under the MoU, police personnel will receive comprehensive training on recently enacted legislation including the Indian Civil Protection Code, Indian Judicial Code, and Indian Evidence Act, 2023. Chief Minister Sai hailed these laws as pivotal milestones in Chhattisgarh’s legal landscape, emphasizing the importance of training initiatives to ensure their effective implementation.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma reiterated the government’s dedication to women’s safety and the swift resolution of crimes against them. He announced plans to increase the number of women police stations and bolster forensic investigation capabilities, underscoring the state’s proactive approach towards combating organized crime and terrorism.

Ranbir Singh, a special guest representing the Union Home Ministry, lauded Chhattisgarh’s pioneering role as the first state to sign such an MoU, highlighting its significance in enhancing the capacity and training of law enforcement personnel.

In his address, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja outlined the comprehensive training framework devised to equip officers with the requisite knowledge and skills to navigate the new legal landscape effectively. Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Manoj Pingua underscored the government’s commitment to public awareness and outreach efforts to familiarize citizens with the new laws.

Vice Chancellor of Hidayatullah National Law University, Prof. (Dr.) V.C. Vivekanandan, hailed the MoU as a crucial step towards empowering police officers with insights into key legal provisions. The event was attended by senior police officials, government dignitaries, and representatives from Hidayatullah National Law University, underscoring the collaborative efforts towards enhancing the state’s justice system.

The ceremony, conducted by Deputy Inspector General of Police Mrs. Parul Mathur, marked a significant milestone in Chhattisgarh’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its legal framework and ensure equitable justice for all citizens.
