TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 15, 2024: Building upon its commitment to inclusive prosperity, the Congress Party has announced a comprehensive set of guarantees aimed at uplifting women and farmers across the nation. State Congress President Deepak Baij unveiled the promises, emphasizing the party’s dedication to empowering marginalized communities.
In a landmark initiative, the Congress Party pledges to implement the Mahalaxmi Yojana, ensuring that every woman receives Rs. 1 lakh annually. This significant financial boost, amounting to Rs. 8333 per month, stands in stark contrast to the current BJP-led government’s provision of a mere Rs. 1000 per month. Furthermore, the Congress government vows to recruit women for half of all central jobs, doubling central assistance to ASHA workers, Anganwadi, and midday meal workers, appointing legal assistants in every Panchayat to safeguard women’s legal rights, and constructing hostels for working women in every district headquarters.
In parallel, the Congress Party also outlines five guarantees to revitalize the agricultural sector and alleviate the plight of farmers:
1. Granting legal status to Minimum Support Price (MSP) and enacting a special law in Parliament to ensure its implementation based on the Swaminathan Commission’s formula.
2. Establishing a permanent Agricultural Loan Waiver Commission to oversee loan waivers for farmers and determine the required amounts.
3. Revamping the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to facilitate prompt payment directly into farmers’ bank accounts within 30 days of crop damage.
4. Crafting an import-export policy for agricultural products, prioritizing farmers’ interests and ensuring stability and predictability.
5. Exempting farmers from Goods and Services Tax (GST) and amending the GST system to waive taxes on agricultural goods.
President Deepak Baij emphasized
the transformative impact of the Mahalaxmi Yojana, envisioning it as a catalyst for women’s economic independence and empowerment. By recognizing one woman from every impoverished family as Mahalakshmi and depositing Rs. 1 lakh annually into her account, Congress aims to bolster familial and societal resilience. This initiative not only fosters entrepreneurship and financial stability but also safeguards against unforeseen adversities, fostering a culture of self-reliance among women.
The Mahalaxmi Yojana embodies Congress’s steadfast commitment to nurturing women’s aspirations and fostering a brighter future for the nation. By investing in the well-being and prosperity of women, Congress endeavors to create a more equitable and resilient society, rooted in dignity and opportunity for all.
