TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 16, 2024: Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), in collaboration with the prestigious law firm AZB & Partners, is all set to host the first edition of the Hidayatullah International Moot Court Competition (HIMCC) starting from March 15, 2024. This groundbreaking event, announced last year, aims to elevate HNLU’s flagship mooting championship to the international stage, extending its renowned zeal for mooting beyond national borders.
The inaugural edition of HIMCC, scheduled to run until March 17, 2024, at HNLU’s campus in Raipur, promises to provide a remarkable platform for law enthusiasts worldwide to engage in intellectually stimulating legal discourse and intense deliberations. With the objective of fostering a spirit of advocacy among legal enthusiasts, this annual competition enables participants to showcase their legal acumen and intellect on an international stage, competing fervently for the coveted title.
This year, HNLU received an overwhelming response to the flagship event, with a total of forty teams from leading public and private law schools participating in the competition. In addition to teams from various parts of India, the inaugural edition of HIMCC is honored to host international teams from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh and Nepal.
A notable aspect of the mooting championship is the rich academic and social diversity among the participating teams. Teams from both established and emerging law schools will demonstrate their passion and excellence in the field of law on the stage of HIMCC. Impressively, the competition will witness the participation of fifty-four female and sixty-six male contestants, forming a formidable lineup of forty teams. The event will be adjudicated by 80 judges from across the country, comprising members from the bar, bench, and academia, with a record prize money of Rs. 5,50,000.
Over the course of three days, the flagship championship will feature meticulously crafted memorials and intense oral rounds focusing on the intriguing theme of competition law applicable to AI gaming gear markets, offering a glimpse into the markets of the future. With such a diverse array of elements, HIMCC sparks immense anticipation in the global antitrust legal scholarship arena.
