TFP Bureau, Korba; March 17, 2024: Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO), a leading aluminium producer in India and a unit of Vedanta Aluminium, recently spearheaded a Mega Health Camp in Bhujankacchar, Chotia, situated in Korba district. Collaborating with the District Health Department, BALCO aimed to bridge the healthcare gap in remote communities, prioritizing the well-being of residents through accessible and quality primary healthcare services.
The Mega Health Camp drew over 110 individuals from Chotia and surrounding villages, who received vital primary healthcare services free-of-cost. A dedicated team comprising doctors, health officials, coordinators, and nurses from various primary health centers delivered essential consultations and treatments during the camp. Patients also received necessary medications to support their ongoing health needs.
Additionally, the camp raised awareness about the Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat scheme, which offers affordable healthcare at government facilities, thereby empowering individuals to access long-term medical support.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Rajesh Kumar, CEO and Director of BALCO, emphasized the company’s commitment to community welfare. He underscored the transformative role of healthcare in empowering individuals and fostering thriving communities, citing the success of the Mega Health Camp as evidence of BALCO’s dedication to this mission.
Praising the initiative, Mr. Rati Ram, Sarpanch of Ghuchapur, expressed gratitude for delivering essential healthcare services closer to residents’ doorsteps. He highlighted the camp’s role in enhancing healthcare accessibility and awareness in the community, expressing anticipation for similar initiatives in the future.
Under its Project Arogya, BALCO remains steadfast in its commitment to community well-being. The company ensures access to quality primary healthcare services through Rural Health Posts, awareness campaigns on critical health topics, and regular operation of a mobile health van. Mega health camps and vaccination drives further augment BALCO’s efforts to promote preventive healthcare and hygiene practices, benefitting over 45,000 individuals in the fiscal year 2023-24.
