TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 18, 2024: Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale convened a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties in the state today to discuss crucial aspects of the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections. The meeting served as a platform to provide detailed information on the model code of conduct, election expenditure monitoring, and guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.
During the meeting held at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, attendees were briefed on the process of filing nomination papers for candidates participating in the Lok Sabha elections. It was emphasized that the Model Code of Conduct has been enforced across the entire state since the announcement of the election program and will remain in effect until the conclusion of the electoral process.
Key points highlighted during the meeting included:
- Continuous updating of voter lists is ongoing even after the final publication of electoral rolls.
- All polling stations in the state are equipped with essential facilities such as ramps, drinking water, electricity, and toilets.
- Voter assistance centers will be set up at every polling station to provide necessary support to elderly and disabled voters.
- Special provisions are in place for voters above 85 years of age, individuals with disabilities exceeding 40%, and those suspected or infected with Covid-19 to cast their votes through postal ballots.
Furthermore, representatives of political parties were briefed on the expenditure limits imposed on both parties and candidates during elections. They were also provided with guidelines regarding the maintenance of expenditure accounts.
Additional information was shared on the process for obtaining permissions for vehicles and rallies during the election period, aligning with the Election Commission of India’s directives.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Mr. P.S. Dhruv, representatives of recognized political parties, and senior officials from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
