Congress Alleges Electoral Bond Scam, Calls for BJP Recognition Cancellation

Denounces Mahadev App Case FIR

TFP Bureau, Raipur; March 19, 2024:  The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee, in a press conference today, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating an election donation scam through the misuse of central agencies. State Congress President Deepak Baij alleged that the Modi government has turned agencies like ED, IT, and CBI into tools for BJP’s financial gains.

Addressing the media, Baij asserted that the BJP government has resorted to filing false cases against opposition leaders, creating pressure through enforcement agencies, and subsequently collecting donations for the party. He described the situation as government-sponsored illegal extortion, condemning the BJP for using agencies meant to protect citizens’ rights for its own benefit.

Furthermore, Baij criticized the introduction of electoral bonds by the Modi government, branding it as a ploy to facilitate corruption within the BJP. He highlighted instances where companies that donated to the BJP received significant benefits from the government shortly thereafter, indicating a quid pro quo arrangement.

According to Baij, the BJP collected over Rs 6,000 crore in donations since 2019, with several companies donating hefty sums through electoral bonds. He cited examples such as Megha Engineering & Infra, Jindal Steel & Power, and Future Gaming & Hotels, alleging that these companies received favors from the government shortly after their donations.

Demanding swift action, the Congress Party urged the President, Supreme Court, and Election Commission to revoke the BJP’s recognition and bar it from contesting elections due to its alleged misconduct.

*FIR Against Bhupesh Baghel Denounced as BJP Conspiracy*

In the same press conference, Baij denounced the FIR lodged against former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the Mahadev App case as a BJP conspiracy. He accused the BJP of resorting to various propaganda tactics to win elections in Chhattisgarh, including filing false cases against opposition leaders.

Baij questioned the government’s inaction against the Mahadev App despite concerns raised by the Congress government. He insinuated that the BJP might be receiving donations through the app, given the reluctance to take action against it.

The Congress Party reiterated its demand for accountability, urging authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure fair play in the electoral process.
