TFP Bureau, New Delhi; March 20, 2024: The 41st Steering Committee Meeting of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE) commenced in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking the onset of a five-day summit aimed at shaping the trajectory of green hydrogen technology. The inaugural session, themed around academic outreach, delved into the pivotal role of research and development (R&D) and innovation in expediting the embrace of green hydrogen.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Sood, underscored the imperative of rendering hydrogen production cleaner and more cost-effective. He emphasized the collaborative effort required across sectors to advance the green hydrogen agenda, highlighting the multifaceted approach encompassing production, storage, transportation, distribution, and consumption.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Shri Sudeep Jain, echoed the urgency of combatting climate change, stressing the transition from conventional to green hydrogen. Vice-Chairperson of IPHE, Mr. Noe Van Hulst, lauded India’s pivotal role in steering the clean energy future, emphasizing the significance of academic involvement and research-driven innovation.
The event witnessed spirited discussions in panel sessions focusing on skill development and the transformative potential of green hydrogen technologies across industries. With participants hailing from 23 member countries and the European Commission, the IPHE summit serves as a cornerstone for global collaboration in advancing hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.
