TFP Bureau, Raipur; March 26,2024: In the lead-up to the Lok Sabha Elections 2024, a flurry of activity has been witnessed in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency, with five candidates filing a total of seven nomination papers. Shri Kawal Singh Baghel of Rashtriya Jan Sabha Party, Shri Maheshram Kashyap representing Bharatiya Janata Party, and Bahujan have thrown their hats into the electoral ring for the first phase of elections in Chhattisgarh. Joining them are Shri Aytu Ram Mandavi of Samaj Party and Shri Narendra Burka of Hamar Raj Party, all vying for representation in the esteemed Lok Sabha.
The deadline for filing nomination papers for Bastar Lok Sabha constituency is looming, set for March 27. Candidates have from 11 am to 3 pm on office days, excluding public holidays, to formalize their candidacies. Following this, scrutiny of the received nominations will occur on March 28, with candidates allowed to withdraw until March 30.
In a significant move aimed at ensuring smoother voting procedures, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale announced an expanded list of acceptable identification documents for voters. While Electoral Photo Identity Cards remain the primary means of verification, voters now have the option to present one of 12 alternative photo identity documents. These include Aadhaar Card, MNREGA Job Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Indian Passport, and various others. Overseas electors, registered in the electoral rolls based on their passport details, will be identified solely by their original passport at polling stations.
