TFP Bureau, Raipur, March 30, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee has leveled severe accusations against the BJP government, alleging widespread ration shortages and malicious cuts in essential supplies since Vishnudev Sai assumed office. According to senior spokesperson Surendra Verma, the rights of the general public are being systematically eroded under the BJP’s rule.
Verma highlighted a significant reduction in the allocation of ration stocks at government-run shops over the past two months, citing a cut of 37 percent in January and a further 44 percent reduction in February. Shockingly, out of 13,771 ration shops across Chhattisgarh, only 5,786 are currently active, leaving a staggering 58 percent non-operational. Verma demanded clarity from the Sai government on the reasons behind this alarming trend and questioned the basis for deducting ration allocations without physical verification.
“The BJP government is dismantling the welfare schemes established by the Congress,” Verma stated.
He lamented the reduction in ration allotments from 7 kg to 5 kg per unit for BPL cardholders, accusing the BJP of robbing 10 kg of grain monthly from eligible beneficiaries. Verma also criticized the government for shortages in essential items like gram, sugar, salt, and kerosene, which were readily available during the previous administration.
Furthermore, Verma raised concerns about the denial of benefits to beneficiaries of schemes established under the previous Congress government. He highlighted issues such as the non-receipt of unemployment allowances, delayed release of Gothano funds, and the withholding of benefits under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyaya Yojana.
“At the time of the Congress government, over 77 lakh ration cardholders received their entitlements,” Verma remarked. “However, under the Sai government, nearly half of the beneficiaries have been deprived of their rations under the pretext of verification.”
The allegations leveled by the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee underscore growing discontentment with the BJP administration’s handling of essential services and welfare schemes in the state.
