TFP Bureau, New Delhi, March 31, 2024: In a solemn Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday, the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the prestigious Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor of the country, to four eminent individuals.
Posthumously, Bharat Ratna was conferred upon:
Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao: The honor was received by his son, Shri P.V. Prabhakar Rao, on behalf of the late Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao, who served as the Prime Minister of India.
Former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh: The award was accepted by his grandson, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, representing the late Chaudhary Charan Singh.
Dr. M.S. Swaminathan: His daughter, Dr. Nitya Rao, received the Bharat Ratna on behalf of the late Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, renowned agricultural scientist and architect of the Green Revolution in India.
Shri Karpoori Thakur: The honor was posthumously conferred upon him, with his son, Shri Ramnath Thakur, accepting the award on his behalf. Shri Karpoori Thakur was a prominent political figure and served as the Chief Minister of Bihar.
The Investiture Ceremony underscored the nation’s acknowledgment and appreciation of the exceptional contributions made by these distinguished personalities towards the advancement and welfare of the country.
