TFP Bureau, Ambikapur; April 3, 2024: In a bid to promote regular attendance among students in government schools, the Adani Foundation has embarked on a noble initiative to distribute school uniforms across primary schools in the Udaipur block of the district. A total of 1500 school uniforms, meticulously crafted by 20 skilled women from the sewing and production unit of the Adani Skill Development Center, are slated for distribution across 17 primary schools surrounding the Parsa East and Kanta Basin (PEKB) mine.
The distribution commenced at four primary schools in Basen, Pendrakhiya, Chakeri, and Jhigjhariya villages, where Mr. Rajesh Aggarwal, the newly elected MLA of Surguja Assembly, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Free school uniforms, tailored to fit students from classes 1 to 5, were ceremoniously presented to encourage educational participation. Additionally, Charanpaduka, a symbolic offering, was extended to needy villagers in the vicinity.
Mr. Manoj Shahi, Surguja Cluster Head of Adani Enterprises Limited, along with Cluster HR Head Mr. Ram Dwivedi and Land Department Head Mr. Rajesh Sao, lent their support to the event, underscoring the Adani Group’s commitment to community development initiatives.
The uniforms, crafted by skilled women hailing from villages Salhi, Tara, Hariharpur, and Parsa, were meticulously stitched at the Adani Skill Development Center. These women, beneficiaries of a three-month free tailoring training course facilitated by the center last year, have embraced sewing as a means of livelihood. Empowered by Adani Foundation’s skill development initiatives, these women contribute to their families’ economic well-being while fostering community upliftment.
Speaking at the event, MLA Shri Rajesh Aggarwal lauded the efforts of mining companies within the assembly constituency, applauding their dedication to rural development. He emphasized the transformative impact of skill development initiatives, particularly in empowering women and bolstering community welfare.
The Adani Foundation’s commitment to social welfare extends beyond education, encompassing healthcare, infrastructure development, and livelihood enhancement programs in the Udaipur block of Surguja district. Through mobile medical vans and health check-up camps, the foundation delivers quality healthcare services to residents. Moreover, over 900 tribal children receive free education in English medium along with essential amenities like nutritious food, books, and school bags. Additionally, the Skill Development Center offers various livelihood courses, enabling local youth and women to become self-reliant contributors to the nation’s development.
In recognition of their successful completion of training programs, 95 trainees, including 35 men trained as Assistant Electricians and 60 women trained as Sewing Machine Operators, received certificates and toolkits. The Adani Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to empower communities and individuals, fostering self-reliance and sustainable development across the nation.
