TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 7, 2024: In a bid to bolster voter turnout and civic engagement, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale emphasized the significance of casting ballots during a stirring voter awareness rally staged in Jagdalpur today. Encouraging both conscientious citizens and the broader populace to recognize the importance of their franchise, she underscored the pivotal role of voter participation in shaping the democratic process.
Commending the remarkable voter turnout witnessed during the previous assembly elections, Kangale lauded Bastar constituents for surpassing longstanding voting percentage records within the region. She noted that the fervor exhibited by voters in the Vananchal region served as a source of inspiration for citizens across Chhattisgarh.
The rally, a cornerstone of the sweeping voter awareness campaign, saw Kangale ceremonially inaugurating the voter awareness chariot and extending gestures of encouragement to Divyangis (persons with disabilities) participating in the event. Leading by example, she administered an oath to rally attendees, urging them to exercise their electoral rights diligently.
The rally, which commenced from Shaheed Park and culminated at Hata Ground, culminated with the formation of a human chain, symbolizing unity in the pursuit of democratic ideals. Local dialects reverberated with messages urging constituents to cast their votes on April 19, underscoring the grassroots nature of the voter mobilization effort.
In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, District Election Officer Shri Vijay Dayaram K.K. disclosed plans to deploy all-women polling teams across 125 polling stations within the district. Reflecting on the success of past voter awareness initiatives, K.K. attributed over 80 percent voter turnout during the assembly elections to robust voter mobilization campaigns.
The sweep program, spearheaded by Collector and District Election Officer Shri Vijay Dayaram K.K., has extended its reach to all gram panchayats and haat markets, further amplifying voter awareness efforts across the district.
Present at the event were Superintendent of Police Mr. Shalabh Sinha, CEO Zilla Panchayat Shri Prakash Survey, Forest Divisional Officer Mr. Uttam Gupta, alongside other esteemed officers, senior citizens, members of the third gender, and disabled individuals, collectively underscoring the inclusive spirit of democratic participation.
