TFP Bureau, New Delhi; April 11, 2024: The Election Commission of India will issue the Gazette notification tomorrow, April 12, 2024, for the third phase of the General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024. This phase encompasses 94 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) spread across 12 States/Union Territories (UTs) where polling is scheduled to take place on May 7, 2024. Additionally, a separate notification will be issued for the adjourned poll in the 29-Betul (ST) Parliamentary Constituency of Madhya Pradesh.
The adjourned poll for the 29-Betul (ST) PC in Madhya Pradesh, originally slated for the second phase, was rescheduled following the unfortunate demise of a contesting candidate from the Bahujan Samaj Party.
The nomination process for Phase 3 will commence tomorrow, with the last date for nominations set for April 19, 2024, across all 12 participating States/UTs. The States/UTs included in Phase 3 are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The Election Commission’s issuance of the Gazette notification marks a crucial milestone in the electoral process, paving the way for candidates to formally submit their nominations and initiate campaign activities ahead of the polling day on May 7, 2024.
