Congress Slams BJP Manifesto as a Reflection of Frustration: Deepak Baij

State Congress President Criticizes BJP’s Electoral Promises

TFP Bureau, Raipur; April 15, 2024: The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee has issued a scathing response to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election manifesto, characterizing it as a testament to the BJP’s disappointment and frustration. State Congress President Deepak Baij remarked that the BJP’s manifesto indicates a lack of confidence, predicting that the party will struggle to secure even 150 seats in the upcoming elections.

According to Baij, the BJP’s manifesto falls short of bold promises akin to those made in 2014 and 2019, highlighting the party’s reluctance to commit to substantial pledges. Baij criticized the BJP for failing to fulfill key promises made over the past decade, such as creating 2 crore jobs annually, depositing ₹15 lakh into every citizen’s account, doubling farmers’ income by 2022, implementing the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations on MSP, and curbing inflation.

Furthermore, Baij pointed out the absence of crucial commitments in the BJP’s manifesto, contrasting it with the Congress manifesto’s focus on providing relief to women, youth, farmers, laborers, and marginalized communities. Notable omissions in the BJP’s manifesto, according to Baij, include guarantees on job creation, MSP legal safeguards for farmers, women’s welfare initiatives like the Nari Nyaya Scheme, inflation control measures, and addressing the unrest in Manipur.

The Congress manifesto, Baij emphasized, outlines comprehensive plans for youth recruitment, MSP protection, women’s empowerment, peace restoration in Manipur, tribal area governance reforms in Ladakh, health insurance provisions, farmer debt relief, and conducting a caste census.

Baij’s critique underscores the competitive electoral landscape in Chhattisgarh, with the Congress Party positioning itself as a champion of inclusive governance and robust policy commitments compared to what it perceives as the BJP’s reticence and lack of transformative vision.
