TFP Bureau, Korba; April 15, 2024: Bharat Aluminum Company Limited (Balco), a Vedanta Group entity, has extended health benefits to approximately 3.3 lakh individuals through its extensive community health projects and hospitals during the fiscal year 2024, coinciding with World Health Day. The company’s commitment to serving the community with high-quality health services has significantly impacted the region, aligning with this year’s theme of “my health, my right.”
In a bid to foster inclusive and equitable communities, Balco launched an accessory distribution campaign, providing walking sticks, tripods, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs to 34 elderly and differently-abled individuals. Additionally, the company organized a two-day Multi-Specialty Mega Health Camp in Bhadrapara and Belakchahar, offering treatments for various ailments and distributing free medicines to attendees. Expert medical professionals conducted diagnostic tests and provided specialized consultations in dentistry, dermatology, orthopedics, gynecology, physiotherapy, and general medicine, benefitting approximately 479 citizens.
Furthering its commitment to community health, Balco operates a Mobile Health Van (MHV) under the theme ‘Treatment Aapki Dwar’, offering primary health services and counseling to more than 47 communities. In the past year, the MHV has served over 15,599 individuals, providing free medicines and medical facilities for common diseases.
Balco’s Health Project focuses on preventive and remedial healthcare measures, with a special emphasis on addressing malnutrition, anemia, maternal and infant care, HIV, TB, and substance abuse awareness campaigns. Approximately 49,963 individuals benefited from this initiative in FY 2024.
The company’s Kiran project raises awareness about menstrual health management and hygiene, reaching over 57,386 community members to date. Through its Nand Ghar initiative, Balco operates as a center for women and child development, providing quality healthcare and nutrition to young children, pregnant women, and new mothers.
Balco Hospital, equipped with 120 beds and state-of-the-art facilities including modular OTs and CT scans, served 183,985 individuals in the fiscal year 2024. Additionally, the Balco Medical Center (BMC), a 170-bed state-of-the-art Cancer Hospital in Naya Raipur, treated 11,375 individuals during the same period.
Overall, Balco’s holistic approach to community health, encompassing preventive measures, specialized treatments, and community development programs, continues to positively impact the lives of individuals across 123 villages in Chhattisgarh, benefitting more than 1.5 lakh people annually.
