Government Mandates Holiday for Factory Workers

TFP Bureau, Raipur; April 16, 2024: In adherence to the directives issued by the Election Commission of India, the Chhattisgarh state government has declared the voting date for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 as a paid holiday for workers employed in factories and establishments governed by the Factories Act, 1948, and the Chhattisgarh Shops and Establishments Act, 1953.

The voting dates for various parliamentary constituencies in Chhattisgarh are as follows: Bastar on April 19, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, and Kanker on April 26, and Surguja, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Korba, Bilaspur, Durg, and Raipur on May 7.

Moreover, employees from neighboring states working in private or public establishments, shops, industrial undertakings, or businesses in Chhattisgarh will also receive paid leave on the voting day of their home state. The voting dates for Lok Sabha elections in neighboring states are as follows: Andhra Pradesh on May 13, Orissa on May 13, 20, 25, and June 1, Maharashtra on April 19, 26, and May 7, Madhya Pradesh on April 19, 26, and May 7, 13, 20, 25, and June 1, Uttar Pradesh on April 19, 26, and May 7, 13, 20, 25, and June 1, Jharkhand on May 13, 20, 25, and June 1, and Telangana on May 13.

Additionally, workers in factories operating seven days a week will be granted a holiday of two hours each for the first and second shifts on the day of voting. The state government has instructed factories operating in continuous processes to facilitate voting for their workers out of turn.
