TFP Bureau, New Delhi; April 16, 2024: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2023. The results are based on the written part of the examination held in September 2023 and the subsequent interviews for the Personality Test conducted from January to April 2024.
A total of 1016 candidates have been recommended for appointment to prestigious services including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and various Central Services in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
The candidates recommended for appointment are categorized as follows:
- General Category: 347 candidates
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 115 candidates
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 303 candidates
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 165 candidates
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 86 candidates
Additionally, the list includes candidates from different categories with disabilities (PwBD), ensuring representation and inclusivity.
According to Rule 20 (4) & (5) of the Civil Services Examination Rules 2023, a consolidated Reserve List of candidates has been maintained. This list includes candidates from various categories to fill future vacancies.
The appointment to these services will be made based on the available vacancies, as reported by the government:
- Indian Administrative Service (IAS): 180 vacancies
- Indian Foreign Service (IFS): 37 vacancies
- Indian Police Service (IPS): 200 vacancies
- Central Services Group ‘A’: 613 vacancies
- Group ‘B’ Services: 113 vacancies
The candidature of 355 recommended candidates has been kept provisional, subject to certain conditions.
