TFP Bureau, Raipur, April 19, 2024: Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) Raipur, organized a significant event, the “One-Day Online International Conference on Facets of Social Justice in the Vision of a Developed India @2047: Harnessing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Legacy.” This conference, held on last Sunday, commemorated the birth centenary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the distinguished jurist, economist, and social reformer.
The conference attracted a diverse audience comprising academicians, professionals, scholars, policymakers, activists, and students from across India, as well as participants from the United Kingdom and Spain. It provided a platform for meaningful discussions and reflections on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy in the context of social justice and nation building.
In his opening address, Prof. (Dr.) V. C. Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor of HNLU, highlighted the persistent challenge of achieving economic and social equity envisioned by Dr. Ambedkar despite seven decades of Independence. The chief guest, Shri Kishore Bhaduri, Senior Advocate High Court of Chhattisgarh & Distinguished Jurist Professor at HNLU, emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s invaluable contributions to India’s constitutional framework and his unwavering commitment to equality, justice, and empowerment.
The conference featured twelve parallel technical sessions where distinguished resource persons and participants, including academicians, professionals, scholars, legal experts, and social activists, shared insights and perspectives on various dimensions of social justice. They focused on envisioning a developed India by 2047, aligning with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision.
In the valedictory session, Prof. Dr. V. C. Vivekanandan commended the overwhelming response to the conference, emphasizing its significance in realizing Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals. The Chief Guest, Shri P. V. S. Giridhar, Senior Advocate High Court of Madras & Distinguished Jurist Professor at HNLU, underscored the importance of an all-inclusive development model to fulfill Dr. Ambedkar’s vision enshrined in the Constitution of India.
The event also saw the release of the HNLU Journal of Law and Social Sciences (Volume IX, Issue-II) and was organized by various centers under the School of Law & Public Policy and School of Law & Humanities at HNLU. The organizing committee included Mr. Aashutosh Kumar Aahire as the organizing secretary, with Dr. Ayan Hazra, Dr. Parvesh Kumar Rajput, and Mr. Jeevan Sagar as co-secretaries.
