TFP Bureau, Raipur; April 23, 2024: The Chhattisgarh state government has announced the appointment of IAS officer Sonmani Borah, from the 1999 batch, to the position of Principal Secretary for the Tribal, Scheduled Caste Development Department, as well as the Backward Class and Minority Development Department.

Having recently returned from central deputation, Bora brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to this appointment, the responsibilities of these departments were overseen by Narendra Dugge. Dugge held the positions of both secretary and Commissioner Tribal. However, with Sonmani Bora assuming the role of Principal Secretary, Dugge’s responsibilities will now be adjusted. He will retain the title of Commissioner Tribal, while his role as Secretary for Tribal, Scheduled Caste, and Backward Class Welfare will be reassigned.

Sonmani Borah’s previous assignments include serving as Secretary at Raj Bhavan and in the Labour department during his tenure in Delhi. His appointment underscores the government’s commitment to effective administration and development initiatives in tribal and marginalized communities.
