TFP Bureau, Raipur; April 27, 2024: With the impending announcement of exam results, the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has taken a proactive step to address the stress and anxiety that often accompany this period. Recognizing the toll that result-related stress can take on students’ mental well-being, the board has launched a toll-free counseling helpline to provide support and guidance to those in need.
Amid the anticipation and pressure surrounding exam outcomes, it is not uncommon for students to experience heightened levels of stress, which can sometimes lead to feelings of depression and uncertainty. The board aims to mitigate these challenges by offering free counseling services through its toll-free number 18002334363. From May 1 to May 15, students can avail themselves of this resource between 10:30 am and 5:00 pm. Additionally, a dedicated helpline number 14416 operates 24/7 for round-the-clock assistance.
In a bid to further bolster mental health support, the CGBSE is organizing online skill development training on April 29, starting at 12 noon. This initiative will leverage the expertise of identified psychological therapists, career counselors, and academic specialists from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). The weblink for this training session will be disseminated to all concerned teachers through the Development Block Education Officer and Block Resource Centre Coordinator.
In a directive issued by the Secretary of the School Education Department to various educational authorities, emphasis was placed on fostering a positive and supportive environment for students and parents alike. It underscored the importance of raising awareness about the transient nature of exam results and the need to avoid undue pressure or negative feedback. Instead, efforts should be made to reassure students that academic performance does not dictate their future success, citing numerous examples of individuals who have overcome academic setbacks to achieve great heights.
The letter also highlighted common symptoms of stress in children, such as withdrawal, irritability, and loss of appetite, urging educators and parents to remain vigilant and offer appropriate support when needed. By prioritizing mental health and well-being, the CGBSE aims to provide students with the resources and encouragement they need to navigate challenging times with resilience and optimism.
