TFP Bureau, New Delhi, April 29, 2024: In a coordinated operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), working in collaboration with the Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), intercepted a Pakistani vessel at sea and seized 86 kg of narcotics worth approximately Rs 600 crore. Additionally, 14 crew members aboard the vessel were apprehended during the meticulously planned anti-narcotics operation conducted on April 28, 2024.
The ICG ship Rajratan, equipped with officials from ATS and NCB, successfully identified the suspect vessel despite attempts to evade detection. Utilizing a swift and coordinated response, the Rajratan, backed by a fleet of ships and aircraft engaged in concurrent missions, effectively thwarted any escape attempt by the drug-laden vessel. Following a thorough inspection by the ship’s specialist team, a significant quantity of narcotics was discovered onboard.
Currently, both the crew members and the vessel are under escort to Porbandar for further investigation and legal proceedings.
This successful joint operation underscores the synergy and collaboration between the ICG and ATS, which has resulted in eleven similar law enforcement operations over the past three years, demonstrating a concerted effort towards achieving national objectives.
