TFP Bureau, Dantewada; April 30, 2024: In a significant development, 23 Maoists surrendered themselves after being influenced by the “Lon Varatu” (Come Back Home) campaign in the Dantewada district. These individuals, who were previously associated with the Bhairamgarh Area Committee, have renounced the path of violence and expressed their faith in democracy and the Constitution.
Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Bastar Range Mr. Sundarraj P. (I.P.S.), Deputy Inspector General of Police Dantewada Range Mr. Kamlochan Kashyap (I.P.S.), Deputy Inspector General of Police CRPF Dantewada Range Mr. Vikas Katheria (I.P.S.), Superintendent of Police Dantewada Mr. Gaurav Rai (R.P.S.), Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Smriti Rajnala (R.P.S.), and Additional Superintendent of Police Dantewada Mr. Ramkumar Barman (R.P.S.), the efforts to integrate Maoists into mainstream society have shown promising results.
The surrender of these Maoists comes as part of ongoing initiatives by the district police force and CRPF under the “Naxal eradication campaign” and the rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government. The administration’s outreach efforts have been extensive, reaching every village to spread awareness about Naxal rehabilitation policies.
Encouraged by these efforts and disenchanted with the ideology of violence and exploitation, these youth have chosen to embrace mainstream society. The surrender ceremony took place at the DRG office in Dantewada, attended by top police officials and authorities.
As part of the rehabilitation scheme, each surrendered Maoist will receive an incentive amount of Rs 25,000 from the Superintendent of Police Dantewada. This initiative aims to encourage more Maoists to leave the path of violence and contribute positively to the development of the region.
To date, a total of 761 Maoists, including 177 who were rewarded, have surrendered under the Lon Varatu campaign, marking a significant shift towards peace and development in the region.
