Chhattisgarh Implements Skill Development and Motivation Training to Combat Exam Result Stress

State Government Takes Proactive Measures to Tackle Student Mental Health Concerns

TFP Bureau, Raipur; April 30, 2024: The annual declaration of class 10th and 12th exam results by the Board of Secondary Education in Raipur often brings a wave of stress and disappointment among students. In response to this, the state government has taken a significant step by launching online skill development and motivation training sessions in collaboration with the Board of Secondary Education and SCERT.

Addressing the issue, Additional Chief Secretary Mrs. Renu Pillay emphasized the need for students not to succumb to stress or depression surrounding exam results. She urged parents to manage their expectations and support their children through this challenging period.

Moreover, to provide immediate assistance to any student exhibiting signs of distress, the Health Department has established a toll-free helpline, “104 Arogya Seva Free Consultation,” operational round the clock.

School Education Secretary Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi underscored the importance of not equating exam results with one’s worth, citing numerous examples of successful individuals who didn’t excel academically in their youth. He issued directives to departmental and field officers to address this issue comprehensively.

The training sessions featured insights from various experts, including subject specialist Dr. Swati Sharma, who highlighted the journeys of renowned personalities like Bill Gates and Albert Einstein, emphasizing the importance of encouragement and positive familial environments.

Dr. Preeti Singh, a psychiatrist from Medical College Raipur, shed light on the psychological impact of exam results, particularly on high-achieving students who struggle to accept anything less than perfection.

Career counselor Dr. Varsha Varvandkar stressed the significance of career counseling in guiding students towards the plethora of opportunities available to them in the 21st century.

The program, aimed at identifying and addressing mental health issues stemming from exam results, saw the participation of over 30,000 teachers, parents, and community workers. These trained volunteers will continue to provide support before and after the declaration of exam results, fostering a culture of mental well-being in schools and communities across the state.
