TFP Bureau, New Delhi, May 1, 2024: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its weather forecast for the first week of May 2024, outlining a range of weather patterns expected across the country.
According to the IMD, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are likely to persist over East India until May 2nd and over South Peninsular India until May 3rd, gradually improving thereafter. Additionally, heat wave conditions are anticipated over Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Central India during various periods throughout the week.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected to continue over Northeast India until May 2nd. The IMD also highlighted the influence of a cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh and a trough extending from Bihar to Nagaland, which will bring rainfall to several states in the region.
A fresh Western Disturbance is forecasted to affect northwest India from May 3rd, leading to scattered rainfall and thunderstorms over Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and other adjoining regions.
Furthermore, the IMD issued warnings of heat wave conditions persisting over several parts of the country, including Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Marathwada.
The forecast also includes predictions of warm nights and hot, humid weather over various regions, underscoring the need for precautions and preparedness during the coming week.
