Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Marks Successful Conclusion of Swachhata Pakhwada

Ministry showcases commitment to cleanliness with a range of activities

TFP Bureau, New Delhi, May 1, 2024:  The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs recently concluded its Swachhata Pakhwada, observed from April 16th to April 30th, 2024, aligning with the national agenda of cleanliness promoted by the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Government of India.

The fortnight-long initiative commenced with the administration of the ‘Swachhata Pledge’ by the Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on April 16th, 2024. Throughout the Swachhata Pakhwada, various sections of the ministry engaged in a series of activities aimed at promoting cleanliness both within and outside their premises.

Cleanliness drives were organized, focusing on the meticulous review, recording, and disposal of old physical files, alongside the identification of obsolete items for auction. Additionally, efforts were made towards the regular maintenance and cleaning of rooms and appliances in ministry offices located in Samvidhan Sadan.

As part of the program’s outreach, a Swachhata Pledge was administered to students at Kerala Senior Secondary School, Vikaspuri, to instill awareness and foster a culture of cleanliness among the younger generation. An essay competition was also conducted at the school, with winners receiving cash prizes and certificates for their contributions.

The conclusion of Swachhata Pakhwada saw the Ministry recognizing and awarding the top three sections that excelled in maintaining cleanliness standards. Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, emphasized the importance of cleanliness both internally and externally. Dr. Prakash provided an overview of the various activities undertaken during the Pakhwada and encouraged staff to adopt best practices of cleanliness in all aspects of life.

Expressing satisfaction over the active participation of staff in Swachhata-related activities, Secretary Umang Narula commended the commitment to cleanliness and urged employees to uphold the outcomes of Swachhata Pakhwada throughout the year. Narula reiterated that cleanliness is an integral part of the larger goal and emphasized the ongoing importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
