Priyanka Gandhi Urges Voters for Change in Korba Lok Sabha Address

Congress General Secretary Highlights Tribal Culture and Economic Policies

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 2, 2024: Addressing a fervent gathering in Chirmiri, Korba Lok Sabha constituency, AICC National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi emphasized the rich cultural heritage and economic significance of Chhattisgarh’s tribal communities. Recalling the teachings of her grandmother, the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Gandhi underscored the importance of preserving nature and fostering harmonious coexistence within society.

“Indira ji always emphasized the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature,” Gandhi remarked. “The vibrant art and handicrafts of Chhattisgarh’s tribal sisters, cherished by my grandmother, stand testament to the deep-rooted connection between culture and progress.”

Gandhi also highlighted the contributions of local luminaries such as Pandit Ramkumar Dubey and Vibhuti Bhushan, emphasizing Chhattisgarh’s wealth of natural resources and industrious populace. She lauded the developmental strides achieved under the erstwhile Congress government, contrasting it with what she characterized as the BJP’s divisive politics and pro-privatization agenda.

“The BJP’s policies are detrimental to workers, farmers, and the underprivileged,” Gandhi asserted. “Under Modi’s rule, unemployment has soared, while inflation has reached unprecedented levels. Women, the backbone of our society, face increased atrocities and neglect.”

Gandhi pledged to prioritize women’s empowerment through initiatives such as the Nari Nyay scheme and vowed to enact laws safeguarding farmers’ interests, including a guaranteed minimum support price (MSP) and expedited compensation for crop losses.

State Congress President Deepak Baij echoed Gandhi’s sentiments, urging voters to embrace change in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel emphasized the election’s significance in safeguarding constitutional values and championing the interests of all Indians.

Congress candidate for Korba Lok Sabha, Jyotsna Mahant, expressed gratitude for her nomination and reiterated Congress’s commitment to addressing key issues such as inflation, unemployment, and justice for farmers and youth.

The event, presided over by AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot and conducted by Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant, galvanized supporters ahead of the impending electoral contest.
