Accused in Excise and Mahadev Betting App Cases Appear in Court

Former IAS Anil Tuteja and Markfed Officer Manoj Soni Face Extended Remands

TFP Bureau Raipur, May 4,2024: In a significant development, the accused in the high-profile Excise and Mahadev online betting app cases were brought before the court. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) presented former IAS Anil Tuteja, accused in the Excise case, seeking an 11-day remand. Meanwhile, former Markfed officer Manoj Soni, facing charges in the custom milling case, was also presented in court by the ED.

Following the conclusion of a 6-day remand by the ED, Anil Tuteja was presented in the PMLA special court. The ED subsequently applied for a 6-day extension of remand. Similarly, Manoj Soni, after the end of a 4-day ED remand, was brought before the PMLA special court, with the ED seeking a 7-day extension.

Moreover, the accused in the Mahadev online betting app case, including Girish Talreja, Suraj Chokhani, and Aseem Das, were transported from jail to the court premises. The ED filed a charge sheet in the PMLA Court to initiate formal charges against them.

In a parallel development, the bail petition of accused Anwar Dhebar, incarcerated in the excise scam case, was heard today. However, the petition was ultimately rejected by the EOW/ACB Special Court after considering arguments from both sides.

Further, the ED remand of former Markfed officer Manoj Soni, arrested in connection with the Custom Milling Scam case, was extended by 7 days upon orders from the PMLA Special Court.

Meanwhile, the EOW presented all the accused of the Mahadev Satta App case in the special court, including Chandrabhushan Verma, Satish Chandrakar, Sunil Dammani, Amit Aggarwal, and Bhim Singh Yadav, after the culmination of a 5-day remand period.

Additionally, the ED remand of former IAS Anil Tuteja, arrested in the excise scam case, was extended by 2 days until May 6th. Tuteja was presented in court after the expiry of the initial remand period, with orders issued by the PMLA Special Court.

These developments mark significant progress in the legal proceedings surrounding the Excise and Mahadev online betting app cases, as authorities continue to pursue justice in these matters.
