TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 6, 2024: With the third phase of Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 7 in Chhattisgarh, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress concluded extensive campaigns and rallies across all Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. Chief Electoral Officer Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, addressing the media on Monday, assured that preparations for the elections across 7 Lok Sabha seats have been finalized, underscoring the Election Commission’s commitment to conducting fair and peaceful elections.
Kangale disclosed that a total of 15,701 polling stations have been established across the 7 Lok Sabha constituencies, where 168 candidates are contesting. Voting will commence at 7 am and conclude at 6 pm across 58 assembly constituencies, catering to a massive electorate of 1,39,01,285 voters. Notably, 1072 critical polling stations have been identified, with enhanced security measures in place to ensure a smooth voting process.
The election campaign came to a halt 48 hours before polling day, in adherence to Election Commission guidelines. Consequently, candidates and political parties are prohibited from organizing processions, public meetings, or using loudspeakers for campaign purposes during this period. Instead, they are permitted to engage with voters through door-to-door interactions.
