Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Inaugurates Archive/Museum Room at Chhattisgarh High Court

Historical artifacts and documents showcased for public viewing

TFP Bureau, Bilaspur; May 12, 2024: Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Bilaspur, inaugurated the Archive/Museum Room today within the High Court building. The inauguration ceremony was attended by esteemed judges and legal dignitaries. The establishment of this archive room is a testament to Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha’s vision for preserving and showcasing the rich history of the High Court.

The archive room features an impressive collection of historical documents dating back to 1879, including Central Provisions, maps of Berar, and documents related to the Nagpur High Court under the Central Provisions. Additionally, visitors can explore captivating photographs of the High Court building, members of the Constitution Committee, and the late Shri Ravi Shankar Shukla, the first Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh.

Among the exhibits are pictures depicting the building of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur, along with gazettes related to the establishment of the Chhattisgarh High Court in Bilaspur. The archive also features photographs documenting the inauguration and construction phases of the Chhattisgarh High Court’s new building and its extension.

Notable photographs showcased in the archive room include events like the unveiling of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue, the installation of a 100-foot national flag, and the inauguration of a statue honoring Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of the Constitution.

The archive room is a treasure trove of information about the Chhattisgarh High Court’s history and the judicial system, providing valuable insights to visitors and enhancing their knowledge.

In attendance at the inauguration were Advocate General Shri Prafulla N. India, Deputy Solicitor General Shri Ramakant Mishra, senior advocates, President of the High Court Bar Association Shri Umakant Singh Chandel, judicial officers, and other esteemed guests from the legal fraternity.

The Archive/Museum Room at the Chhattisgarh High Court is poised to become a significant resource for legal history enthusiasts and researchers, offering a glimpse into the institution’s illustrious past and its contributions to the judicial landscape.
