TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 17, 2024: The Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is set to hold an International Conference on “Green Governance, Climate Justice, Trade & Environmental Rights: Constitutional & Legal Perspectives” on June 5, 2024, in observance of World Environment Day. The online event, organized under the auspices of the Centre for Environmental Laws, Centre for Constitutionalism and Federalism, and Centre for WTO-WIPO Studies, aims to explore the complex dimensions of environmental discourse.
Recognizing the global significance of climate change, the conference will address issues of environmental equity and justice, alongside economic and technical challenges. The discussions will focus on the principle of “Common but Differentiated Responsibility and Respective Capabilities (CBDR)” amid political and pragmatic realities, including poverty alleviation and governance issues. Despite India’s history of grassroots environmental movements, significant environmental degradation persists, highlighting the need for effective action plans.
The conference will emphasize environmental constitutionalism, advocating for constitutional protections that encompass the rights and duties of both the State and individuals. It aims to serve as a platform for proposing innovative solutions, policies, and practices to promote sustainable development.
As World Environment Day approaches, the conference seeks to inspire global action and collaboration towards achieving climate justice and sustainable development. The event invites abstracts and full papers from academicians, research scholars, students, professionals, and environmental enthusiasts.
