TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 20, 2024: The Chhattisgarh State Congress has announced a series of observances on May 21, 25, and 27, 2024, to commemorate former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, leader Nand Kumar Patel, and India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
Anti-Terrorism Day on May 21, 2024
On May 21, 2024, the 33rd death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi will be observed as Anti-Terrorism Day. The Congress will honor the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi, who played a pivotal role in the nation’s advancements in economic, social, political, scientific, and technological fields. Known for his support of Panchayati Raj, Gandhi advocated for decentralizing power to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level. On this day, Congress members will take an oath to uphold these values, with local state, district, and block officials, along with elected representatives and organizational leaders, expected to participate.
Martyrdom Day on May 25, 2024
May 25, 2024, will mark the anniversary of the Jheeram Valley Naxalite attack, remembering leaders Nand Kumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, Uday Mudaliar, and others who were martyred in 2013. This day will be observed as Martyrdom Day across district and block headquarters. Commemorative events will highlight the contributions of these leaders to the state’s development. June 11 will also be observed in memory of Pt. Vidya Charan Shukla, another victim of the same attack. Various programs, seminars, and discussions will be organized to pay tribute to these leaders, with participation from youth, student organizations, women’s groups, and the Congress Seva Dal.
Nehru’s 60th Death Anniversary on May 27, 2024
The 60th death anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, will be observed on May 27, 2024. Nehru, a key figure in India’s freedom struggle and the architect of modern India, laid a robust industrial foundation, advanced scientific progress, and spearheaded the Green Revolution. He is also credited with establishing the policy of non-alignment and promoting global peace and coexistence. On this day, the Congress will remember Nehru’s contributions through various programs, and detailed reports of these events will be sent to the State Congress Office.
