Chief Electoral Officer Presents Ex-Gratia Cheque to Family of Deceased Election Worker

Mrs. Madhu Banjare’s sons receive Rs 15 lakh in compensation following her tragic death during election duty

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 23, 2024: During her visit to Durg to oversee vote counting preparations, Chief Electoral Officer Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale presented an ex-gratia cheque totaling Rs 15 lakh to the sons of Mrs. Madhu Banjare, an election worker who died in a vehicle accident while on duty.

At the Circuit House in Durg, Mrs. Kangale handed over cheque of Rs 7.5 lakh each to Mr. Nitin Kumar Banjare and Mr. Vipin Kumar Banjare, the sons of the late Mrs. Madhu Banjare. The compensation was provided under the Chhattisgarh State Ex-Gratia Compensation Payment Rules 2009, following the tragic incident near Kumhari on May 8 during the Lok Sabha general election.

Present at the ceremony were Durg Collector and District Election Officer Ms. Richa Prakash Chaudhary, Superintendent of Police Mr. Jitendra Shukla, and Deputy District Election Officer Mr. B.K. Dubey.
