TFP Bureau, New Delhi, May 24, 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced a voter turnout of 62.2% for Phase 5 of the ongoing General Elections 2024, covering 49 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs). Gender-wise turnout statistics reveal a participation rate of 61.48% for male voters, 63.00% for female voters, and 21.96% for voters identifying as third gender.
State-wise breakdowns highlight significant turnout figures. Odisha showcased the highest participation at 72.28%, followed closely by West Bengal at 78.48%. In contrast, Bihar recorded a turnout of 52.42%, reflecting varying levels of voter engagement across regions.
PC-wise data further underscores the diversity in voter participation. Notable turnouts include Bargarh in Odisha at an impressive 80.81% and Arambagh in West Bengal at 81.27%. Conversely, constituencies like Amethi in Uttar Pradesh saw a turnout of 51.26%.
The ECI also provided details for Phase 6, scheduled for May 25, 2024. With 58 PCs set to go to polls, elector numbers have been unveiled, ranging from 15,25,071 in New Delhi’s New Delhi PC to 25,87,977 in West Delhi.
As repolls conclude in Odisha’s Kandhamal PC, the final turnout figures remain subject to updates, with the ECI emphasizing the significance of actual Form 17C data shared with candidates and the inclusion of postal ballots in the final count.
