Over Rs 134 Crore Disbursed Under RTE for 2022-23

Pending payments of Rs 70 crore are being processed, says Directorate of Public Instruction

TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 25, 2024: The Directorate of Public Instruction has announced the disbursement of over Rs 134.30 crore under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE) for the year 2022-23. This payment reimburses private schools for fees incurred from students enrolled in nursery to 8th class during the specified period from January to April 2024.

RTE Payment Progress and Clarification on Pending Fees

Against the total fee reimbursement claims amounting to Rs 185.91 crore for nursery to 8th class and Rs 20.71 crore for classes 9th to 12th, an amount of Rs 134 crore 30 lakh 27 thousand 339 has already been transferred to the accounts of private schools. The remaining pending amount of approximately Rs 70 crore is currently being processed.

The reimbursement process for the academic year 2023-24 is set to conclude by the end of August. Schools are expected to raise claims and objections within the stipulated time frame, following which the fee reimbursement payments will be executed.

In response to circulating reports, the Directorate has clarified that claims of pending fee reimbursements amounting to about Rs 285 crore under RTE are inaccurate. The actual status of payments has been transparently communicated to dispel any misconceptions.
