TFP Bureau, Bemetara, May 26, 2024: A devastating explosion at the Special Blast Limited gunpowder factory in Borsi village, Berla block on Saturday early Morning, has resulted in numerous casualties and injuries. The incident has left many feared trapped under the debris, sending shockwaves through the area.
Following the blast, which triggered panic among residents, emergency responders rushed to the scene. Some of the injured were swiftly transferred to Mehkara in Raipur for urgent medical attention, while others received treatment at nearby hospitals. At present, the exact death toll remains unconfirmed.
The administration, led by Bemetara Collector, along with SDM officials, is coordinating relief efforts on-site to manage the aftermath of the tragedy.
In response to the disaster, the Chhattisgarh government has initiated a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has pledged financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. He emphasized the government’s commitment to overseeing relief and rescue operations diligently.

Expressing solidarity with the victims, State Congress President Deepak Baij called for swift action against those responsible for the accident.
He stressed the need for transparent safety protocols in explosive factories and urged comprehensive compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the deceased and Rs 10 lakh for the injured, in addition to adequate medical care.
As investigations continue into the cause of the explosion, authorities are under pressure to ensure accountability and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
