TFP Bureau, Raipur, May 28, 2024: In a concerted effort to bolster emergency response services for children and women, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is integrating Child Helpline (CHL-1098) and Women Helpline (WHL-181) with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) operated by the police department.
To expedite this integration and ensure swift assistance to those in need, Secretary of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Shammi Abidi, chaired a joint meeting at Mahanadi Bhawan today. Officials from C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram, the ERSS-112 team, BSNL, Railways, and the Women and Child Development Department convened to discuss strategies for enhancing the effectiveness of the helplines.
Secretary Abidi underscored the importance of immediate support for children and women in distress, urging officials to streamline the helpline operations. During the meeting, Director of Women and Child Development, Mrs. Tulika Prajapati, also provided insights into the ongoing initiatives.
A comprehensive review of previous directives revealed that hardware installations for the child helpline are operational in all 33 districts, with integration into the control room underway. Secretary Abidi directed C-DAC and BSNL officials to expedite the integration process.
Furthermore, plans are underway to establish Women Helpline units in One Stop Centers (Sakhi Centres) across 27 districts. Secretary Abidi instructed railway officials from Raipur and Bilaspur to ensure the operation of child helplines at suitable locations within railway stations for the welfare of children. Detailed inspections and prompt actions were mandated to address this directive.
Additionally, a thorough review of cases received by Child Helpline-1098 and WHL-181 was conducted, with directives issued for the expeditious resolution of pending cases. The meeting concluded with a commitment to ensuring prompt and efficient emergency response services for children and women across the state.
